28 Aug 2012 Today ECDC publishes its guidelines for surveillance of invasive mosquito species in Europe. The guidelines aim to assist the Member States in implementing tailored vector surveillance of invasive mosquitoes. 27 Aug 2012 Since the beginning of the year, a number of European countries have reported cases of Salmonella Stanley with the majority of cases in children under nine years of age. 24 Aug 2012 Thirty three new human cases of West Nile fever have been reported for the EU and 46 for its neighbourhood over the past week. 23 Aug 2012 An outbreak of Ebola haemorrhagic fever is ongoing in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with 15 cases reported, including nine deaths in Orientale province in eastern DRC. ECDC has published a rapid risk assessment to assess the risk at an EU level associated with this outbreak. 22 Aug 2012 This year’s ESCAIDE conference is taking place in Edinburgh, UK, between 24–26 October. All participants who register before 31 August will receive a 20% discount, making the fee 200 Euro (including VAT). 20 Aug 2012 From 12 to 17 August 2012, ECDC monitored several ongoing public health threats within and outside the European Union. 20 Aug 2012 Human infections with a novel influenza A(H3N2) variant virus of swine origin (A(H3N2)v) including a genetic component from the 2009 pandemic virus have been reported in the United States since July 2011. Following substantial increased reporting this summer, ECDC updated its risk assessment from last year. 20 Aug 2012 Thirteen new human cases of West Nile fever have been reported for the EU and 18 for its neighbourhood over the past week. 10 Aug 2012 Fourteen new human cases of West Nile fever have been reported for the EU and 36 for its neighbourhood over the past week. 09 Aug 2012 Since July 2011, 155 cases of the variant influenza A(H3N2) virus (A(H3N2)v) have been detected in the US: Hawaii (1), Indiana (113), Iowa (3), Maine (2), Ohio (30), Pennsylvania (3), Utah (1), and West Virginia (2). Most cases reported in Indiana and Ohio are recent cases. No human to human transmission has been determined among these recent cases. 08 Aug 2012 ECDC published its latest measles and rubella monitoring report which shows that measles transmission continues to be slow at European level, without any large new outbreaks reported since the previous report. 06 Aug 2012 On 24 July 2012, the Ministry of Health of Uganda notified WHO of an outbreak of Ebola haemorrhagic fever from Kibaale district, mid-western Uganda. 03 Aug 2012 In response to the ongoing outbreak of Ebola fever in Uganda with 38 persons infected and 16 deaths, ECDC assesses the risk for travellers returning to EU and EU citizens residing in the country. 03 Aug 2012 Further human cases of West Nile fever have been reported for the EU and its neighbourhood over the past week. 31 Jul 2012 On 25 and 26 of July, two additional cases of soft-tissue anthrax among injecting drug users have been reported from the United Kingdom and Denmark. The genetic typing of the strains related to these cases is ongoing. 30 Jul 2012 Following an increase in the number of reported human infections with Salmonella entrica serovar Stanley in some European countries, ECDC issued a rapid risk assessment. 30 Jul 2012 From 22 to 27 July 2012, ECDC monitored several ongoing public health threats within and outside the European Union. |
