ECDC has published a scientific guide outlining its European Union public health microbiology training programme (EUPHEM). It has been developed in response to observations that the speciality of public health microbiology may be limited in outbreak investigations and surveillance.
This guide is intended to be used as a reference document for the EUPHEM training programme but is also useful for other public health training programmes as well as public health institutes and individual professionals.
EUPHEM is considered a ‘specialist pathway’ of the ECDC fellowship programme for applied disease prevention and control, and the guide includes core competencies, training objectives and training content of the programme.
