On the occasion of the WHO campaign ‘SAVE LIVES: Clean Your Hands’, ECDC is launching a slogan contest open to under- and postgraduate students. The objective is to produce a slogan that will be used to promote monitoring of hand hygiene compliance and the future ECDC surveillance module as well as to contribute raising awareness of healthcare professionals throughout Europe.
The new surveillance module intends to provide EU Member States with tools and opportunities to benchmark compliance with good/recommended hand hygiene in accordance with the WHO methodology. The new surveillance module will be piloted in 2013 and will be promoted with the help of the winning slogan.
The winner of the contest will be invited to the European Scientific Conference on Applied Infectious Disease Epidemiology (ESCAIDE) which will take place on 24-26 October 2012 in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK. Registration for the conference, as well as hotel and plane tickets (from and to an EU/EFTA country) will be covered.
