Zsuzsanna Jakab, ECDC Director, today outlined the links between alcohol consumption and infectious diseases in a speech to a Swedish EU Presidency conference in Stockholm.  Alcohol consumption is an important risk factor for tuberculosis and also plays a role in the spread of sexually transmitted infections.  Mrs Jakab called for an integrated public health strategy to tackle all aspects of alcohol related harm.
