ECDC is marking European Immunisation Week with a focus on assisting EU Member States eliminate measles in their population. The root cause of the continued measles transmission in the EU is the sub-optimal uptake of MMR vaccination over several years.

ECDC is planning to hold the following actvities:

• "Free Thinkers" meeting 24-25 April in Stockholm
• Joint event with the Standing Committee of European Doctors (CPME) on childhood vaccination, 4 May in Brussels
• Launch of the publication 'Communication on immunisation- building trust on 24 April 
• Blog entries from ECDC vaccine-preventable disease experts in the European Immunisation Week platform: http://eiw.euro.who.int
