For ESCAIDE 2012, the EPIET Alumni Network (EAN) organized a photo contest open to all conference attendees: they could submit photos, representing their adventurous life as an epidemiologist. The best photos were displayed during the ESCAIDE 2012 conference, in Edinburgh.

Three photos won the EAN photo contest awards:

First place: 'Pricking a mothers heart', San Salvador, El Salvador, Lorenzo Pezzoli

Runners up:

• 'Only a genius masters chaos', Stuttgart, Germany, Elisabeth Aichinger
• 'The Wizard of odds', Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania, USA, by EpiConcept/Epidemiology team
