The goal of the Traineeship Programme is to offer successful candidates an opportunity to improve their skills, to acquire practical knowledge in one of ECDC’s Units as well as the experience of working in an international environment. The traineeships are organised twice a year, each for a period of three to six months (deadline for applications on 30 January and 30 April).

The ECDC Traineeship Programme is open to students who are nationals of the Member States of the European Economic Area (the Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and of candidate countries. It attracts a large number of highly qualified candidates.

This Programme typically seeks candidates in the following fields: Clinical infectious diseases, Microbiology, Public health, Epidemiology, Statistics and/or modelling of infectious diseases, Social sciences, Medical informatics, Scientific and/or risk communication, as well as other related fields.
